"Black absorbs more heat than any other color".What does that mean?

That is , does that mean black absorbs the heat and keeps it into itself or just the heat passes thru it?Say I have a black car,the heat is absorbed and sent into the car or the black absorbs it and it becomes hot and doesnt allow it to get into the car???Pls explain to me.....
would the inside of a black car get hotter?What if I have the inner roof and door of teh car painted white.Than what would happen?What actally is taking place?
